Keep Safe Around Electricity by:

Keep ladders, pool cleaning poles or any other tall objects away from electric lines.
Don't allow children to fly kites near the electric wires.
Stay away from downed or low hanging power lines.  There is a good possibility these wires are still alive.  Call New Enterprise REC immediately and keep others away.
Limit the number of appliances plugged into an outlet.  Overloading an outlet can cause a fire.
Keep electrical appliances and toys away from water, including rain, wet ground, swimming pools, sprinklers, and hoses.
Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCI) shut off power in time to prevent serious shock.  Use them in the bathroom, garage, kitchen and outdoors.
Cord insulation keeps electricity in the wires, where it belongs.  Check appliance power cords and connections for wear; don't use frayed or cracked cords.
