Keep Safe Around Electricity by:
| Keep ladders, pool cleaning poles or any other tall objects away from electric lines. | |
| Don't allow children to fly kites near the electric wires. | |
| Stay away from downed or low hanging power lines. There is a good possibility these wires are still alive. Call New Enterprise REC immediately and keep others away. | |
| Limit the number of appliances plugged into an outlet. Overloading an outlet can cause a fire. | |
| Keep electrical appliances and toys away from water, including rain, wet ground, swimming pools, sprinklers, and hoses. | |
| Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCI) shut off power in time to prevent serious shock. Use them in the bathroom, garage, kitchen and outdoors. | |
| Cord insulation keeps electricity in the wires, where it belongs. Check appliance power cords and connections for wear; don't use frayed or cracked cords. |
